You have asked many very good questions that I struggled with for some time. I finaly figured out how to get the system to work for me when going through text books. The system works beautifully for texts and I will never go back to reading text books the "normal" way that I used to before I learned the system. Read my postings in the following thread:

I have some studying to do and will be able to easily comprehend a chapter with as little as 30 minutes and as long as 2 1/2 hours. This is a vast improvement over my previous performance. It used to take me a minimum of 3 hours (for an easy chapter) with half the comprehension I have now with the system I am now using. The system work if you learn it.
