I used PRWMS in my surgery rotation and received the highest grade in the rotation. I used the Peter F. Lawrence book of General Surgery. I photoread the entire book every day(I received my PR course 2 weeks before the end of rotation). I SR&D'd each chapter individually and then made a mind map of each chapter. I usually use a organized mind map but at the end I was pressed for time and I used semi-organized map of brain-storming, connections, associations, etc. One curious instance was when I had PR'd something in Vascular Surgery. I knew something was wrong. I looked at the chapter heading of wound repair, and it had misspelled heparan as "heparin". Obviously, this was wrong as they have the exact opposite roles in coagulation, wound repair and the relationship with vWF. If you have this book you will know what I mean. Now I am using PR to study for my National Boards.
Good luck!
Laimaile- I would do both and will yourself do dream about the subject everynight. Above all else, relax. It is just your career!
I took the MCAT 5 times and never made above a 23. This is after Princeton Review twice. I tried US medical schools for 5 years then I went to the caribbean. Now I am in Chicago in my third year of medical school. I ahve worked along side students from Chicago Osteopathic Med School and Rush Medical school. I am happy I am in Medicine finally but how I wish I had PRing while studying for the MCAT!!!!!
