I've always been one to ponder about underlying patterns to things in life, and something that just struck me was that photoreading had many "seemingly random" effects that may very well have very specific and predictable causes.

First, I was wondering about the reason why photoreading some books caused such a powerful brain impact, whereas others seemed... to have no real impact at all. I remember photoreading 1200 pages of an AP Bio book that would be used for a year and a half of college bio... and it felt like my head was going to explode afterwards. But in a really, really good way. That night I had some of the most vivid dreams of my life, and no other experiance in photoreading has really compared with it. Now, theories:

1) Does photoreading create a much stronger effect if you are learning many, many things at once? I.e. there were literally thousands of new things to be learned in that Bio book, so was that the specific factor which caused that wonderful brain overload? TEST: In this case, any book of facts would yield a similar result, so say photoreading an almanac would have a similar result.

2) Does the complexity of the material create such a powerful impact? The bio book described the entire general field of biology, everywhere from specifics within organells within cells, all the way up to ecology. Does the brain receive such a powerful stimulation from trying to structure all of this information, as it would be an extremely complicated thing to structure? TEST: Computer Programming books can be extremely complicated (not in writing style, in content, for broader topic books) SO, even though they don't neccesarily teach thousands of new facts, or relate to every nuance of daily life, they would still create a powerful brain impact IF this theory, or some similar mechanism, is true.

3) Is the number of connections that the information makes the cause of the impact? I'd like to think I have a decent general knowledge of the world, so obviously thousands of new chunks of information regarding the mechanisms of the world would create at least several hundred connections to this outside knowledge, as biology relates to many every day things. TESTreading a book, or perhaps a few, on theorys of life, or philophys of life, would perhaps be a good test for this - they likely wouldn't contain thousands of chunks of information, and they likely wouldn't be extraordinarily complex, so a consistent brain impact from such book would give more evidence towards this theory.

Hmm, I have some basic theories as to spontaneous activation, but they'd be rapidly sharpened if I could get some feedback to this line of thought. Do these theories hold true? Is there some other pattern to what books, when photoread, seem to affect you the most? What books, when photoread, have had the largest immediate effect?

Maybe it is beyond any simple theory, but my mind keeps proclaiming that there is something I'm not seeing yet, so perhaps one of the theories is correct, or at least in part.

I don't know what you're asking or that this will answer anything. BUT! I do think that by reading more repetitious stuff, more so than a ton of different info, has a stronger impact. Repetition is the key to memory, I believe. So maybe it would be better to PR several different sources of one particular topic.
