You are correct. I have found that 1 hour of delta meditation satiates my sleep needs for the next 6 to 8 waking hours.

That is why, I suggest spreading three meditations throughout the day, every 7 or so hours.

The chart that Anna Wise provides in her book, The High Performance mind is very illustrative.

Right, draw or imagine a quadrant graph:

Aroused Mind = +y
Relaxed Mind = -y
Aroused Body = +x
Relaxed Body = -x

Delta meditation is in the absolute lower left-hand corner. Complete and utter relaxation of body and mind. MUCH much deeper than even the deepest sleep.

As I recall from somewhere on the web, in this state, the body releases massive amounts of human growth hormone and also an inordinate amount of cellular regeneration occurs.
