Paul, you’re totally right! I apologize. Reading that over, it doesn’t sound too good. I’ve been running on big-time automatic pilot these past couple days. When the inner critic recedes... so does, well, self-criticism. Perhaps some self-criticism is a good thing? That’s the problem with depriving yourself of dreams... life takes on a dreamlike quality.

Funny you should say that, I've been noticing that my people interactions have been getting off the wall in terms of enthusiasm and obliviousness... you may have noticed the progressive insanity of my posts... I feel like a mad genius! (maybe I should get some real sleep? ... it's been so long...)

Actually, now you’ve got me thinking!! My freshman psych professor, Robert Sternberg wrote a book a couple years back called ‘Successful Intelligence’. In it, he posits that there are three different types of intelligence ‘that matter’.

I. Creative
II. Analytical
III. Practical

A great part of the book is tearing down the IQ test as a measure of genius. He says that IQ merely measures Analytical intelligence and not the other two. And he says that all three matter. So, THINKING VISUALLY to Sternberg is only one-third what it takes to be ‘successfully intelligent’.

Using his perspective. Perhaps there are three different kinds of geniuses?

Creative Geniuses – Tesla, Einstein
Analytical Geniuses – John Stuart Mill
Practical Geniuses – Carnegie, Ford

(John Stuart Mill especially was perhaps the greatest Analytical Thinker who ever walked the earth. His autobiography? I don’t think he was to be envied though. Man, that poor kid had no childhood—and no emotions.)

Perhaps a Renaissance Man is all three? That surely is the ideal.

These further correspond with the three types of brainwave states:

Creative Genius – Theta waves –accessing the subconscious for creativity, insight, and options
Analytical Genius – Beta waves –conscious examination, weighing of opposites
Practical Genius – Alpha waves –automatic, spontaneous, efficient, reticular action

But... 'notice' that Analytical intelligence seems to be absent from Paul Scheele's model:

Creative -- Receptive, Generative
Analytical -- ? (shuts off whole-mind?)
Practical -- Persistent

...there are so many theories out there...

I think I need to take a break from thinking about this stuff for a while.. maybe a couple days. Maybe go suffocate some brain cells? What day is it? I don't even know! Row row row your boat... Where am I? gently down the stream... What am I doing? Merrily merrily merrily merrily... Who am I?

Perhaps its time to put this insanity to rest?

and a word to the wise.. beware of listening to Personal Genius several hundred times a day... you never know where it may take you!
