There is one eternal truth, but infinite ways of perceiving that truth.
I believe problem solving to be a learned ability, whereas memory to be more innate.
Well, I don’t know. I took an intro cognitive science class last year and learned some stuff on how cognitive psychologists like to quantify our mental functioning—very useful for creating AI models.
One of the theories says that there are two innate processes going on. Namely, memory access and thought. The two go hand in hand, and I would describe both as ‘innate’. What good is one without the other?
To put this in elementary computer science terms, you’ve got your data structure, and then you’ve got your function. Or in math, F(x), where x is memory and F() is the process of thinking which requires an input.
Here is where we get into semantics. I have the feeling that the next post will be about Problem Solving vs. Thinking. You may argue that Problem Solving is an intense ‘analytical’ skill that operates on a higher level than basic thinking, which we learn through years of practice in school—and you’d be right.
But the question is…. is Learning Strategies dealing with Analytical Intelligence?
In the same manner, is Personal Genius designed to increase your Analytical Intelligence?
Also, if you listen to the tape, you will see that Paul indeed guides you to use your memory effectively. "Focused on the pool... the childs mind associated with the pool... and letting go of the need to know the answer..."
You’re right. But for that matter, Paul does the same thing in PG. He has us walking around mansions, and opening doors for some reason or another…
For the sake of experiment, why don't you try using MS in a mega session?
Actually, I sort of do that:
1. Play the MS induction
2. Repeat the MS, then PG paraliminal portions.
3. Play the PG rising
I had a further idea. To take the all the paraliminals, divide them up into subjects that complement each other like:
action
Automatic Pilot
Get Around To It
social
Personal Magnetism
Relationships
genius
Personal Genius
Memory Supercharger
etc.
Take whichever inductions and 'coming to' portions are best, then take their paraliminal portions and repeat them constantly during the meditation.
If it can be done for memory (definitely) and for genius (possibly), it may work for other things as well.
FOR INSTANCE!!! The Natural Brilliance Generator!!!... wow... find some way to supercharge that session... it would induce god-like abilities of ALL SORTS. (I really am truly enamored with Natural Brilliance.)
Here’s a trivial anecdote: Last night, a couple of my friends made a Cantonese dinner. Though I have had innumerable opportunities to eat with chopsticks in the past couple years, I’ve never been able to get it, no matter how hard I tried. I’d always give up after the first couple minutes, then reach for a fork. Last night, as I was talking and without thinking, I just picked up a pair and starting using them just as well as everyone else! It didn’t even occur to me that I didn’t know how to use them until someone pointed it out! I was like, “oh yeah, that’s funny, I thought I didn’t know how to use these.” And then I got confused and awkward with them again.
