If your CD player doesn't have both the [next track] and [skip forward] buttons then usually you have to push and hold another botton and then hit the [next track] button to do the skip forward. My portable CD player was like that and I found out on accident how to do it.
Alot of times I have to stop and come back later and continue so that's why I like tapes.
