Not to sound mean, but mp3's are what i'm encoding them to. As i said in an earlier post the filesize isn't that big to download, even with a 56k modem. And i've only seen one person mention that he(or was it she?) would basicly do the same thing, and to everyone that has sent me an email, i thank you and the rest of the tapes will be put up there soon, i'm tring for atleast a tape a day. Especialy if you just download the broken up parts.

No problem. You're not being mean.

I just wanted to let you know there is a way to save 50% of time and space. If you don't care, fine. If you do, now you know what to do. So, fine either way.

It's nice of you to share your mp3's to people who don't know how to make them from tapes. I wouldn't worry about those people giving mp3's to others - if they wanted to they could have given the tapes to others, so there's really no difference.

Hello rex_dickens,

I'm new on the Photo Reading forum. Got on it yesterday right before placing an order. My kit will arrive on Monday.

I had planned to convert the audio into either CDs or MP3 CDs before finding bumping into your post a while ago. So if you're still providing the files, I'll request for the ftp address after I have received the tapes.

I have a concern about your using such low bit rate. For speech, 48kbps may be fine (I personally can hear a clear difference in speech when it comes below 64kbps). More relevant to my concern is that I thought that there was also music in some of the tapes, am I mistaken? If so, does 48kbps of music sound too thin?

I don't know if the music, if any, contains any subliminal messages, but in genearl, music under 128kbps with MP3 sounds thin or hollow to me.
