Try holding the book closer and looking over top of it. If you then look at the book and it goes away then you have to just practice it over and over until you can hold it on the book. It's just a new skill that once you get you'll wonder why you tried so hard because it eventually comes.

I've read that you don't need the blip page if you can soft gaze at the whole book without taking any words into hard focus. I don't use it for big books and I can even soft gaze in the middle of a single page without taking anything into hard focus. That's nice especially for reading stuff off the monitor.

Don't be so concerned about the blip page, it will present itself when you least expect it in time. You can still PR w/o it. There are many PRer's that cannot get the blip page and PR just fine. The blip is a by product or shall I say "extra gravy". The main important is the soft gaze and being able to take in both pages through your peripheral vision

Have you ever heard of those books called Magic Eye? It is where you focus in a way that you see a 3D image. if you can get one of those you can practice with photofocus. If you look "past the book" as if you had x-ray vision, and if you do it right, an image will appear. This is a way to assure yourself if you are doing it right. Then you can, after you get that down, use that same un-focusing technique and apply it to photoreading. WARNING: you shouldnt cross your eyes. I heard that wasnt good for your eyes. In magic eye books, the images tend to appear inverted when you do it wrong. With the correct technique, the images pop out and are easier to see. With the incorrect (cross-eyed) technique, they tend to go into the page, like a hole.
