This seems to be the only board that has a lot of people post. Anyway...

I was wondering if anybody could give me some links or info on sleep learning and maybe some statistics and personal experiences. Thank you for any help.

Although this is off topic to what this forum is all about, I'll try to give you as much information as I know. First, sleep learning was first developed in eastern europe in the '50s-'60s. It is based on the well established fact nowadays that learning is best done when the brain is in a predominantly alpha state (deeply relaxed but still conscious, 8-13 hz), that is, just before you doze off, otherwise known as stage 2 sleep. Sleep learning has just about dissapeared these days because of the new learning technologies (like the ones LS offers). Many of the new technologies advocate acheiving an alpha state before the learning session begins through various means (binaural encoded tapes, relaxation exercises, mind machines, etc...). I doubt you'll find much out there for sleep learning, the closest thing I can think of is Nova Dreamer. Try WWW.lucidity.com.

Be cool!

Thanks for your input. On the BWGen website it says Theta (4-7hz) is the optimum learning point, maybe for concious only? Anyway I am mainly asking about this as I have a few audio tapes on vocabulary. Gonna try an see if it may be possible to get something out of it. Doesn't hurt to try though.

BTW why is the Million Dollar Vocabulary set so much? I have found audio tapes which have almost all of the words you listed for much cheaper prices at a smaller local store.

This info may be ahrd to come by, maybe a LSC rep knows. If I were to listen to a paraliminal tape or try to "sleep learn" would taking a TylenolPM or other drugs that aid you in sleeping have any negative affects on the listening during the night?

Thanks to anybody who can help.

I guess that depends who you refer to for your information. My information tells me theta is best for learning new responses (eg. forming new habits, etc...). Alpha states are good for absorbing data as you're in a very relaxed state. Anyways, the only way to tell if you're truly in either state is to own a snazy biofeedback machine and they ain't cheap!
Stay Alpha!
