chaosadelt,

Ezra,
You asked: "You mentioned above that "PRing works for me". I was wondering if you could give a little more info. How is it working for you?"

It's working great. The first experience I had of a book gelling was this last spring, "Tuesdays With Morrey". It was an amazing experience. To understand what I wanted from a book in roughly 45 minutes when it would've taken me around 10 hours to regular read the thing (I "normal read" at about 160-190 words per minute and frequently get lost in the details) using the 5 day plan.

The next experience I had was with a highly detailed and technical medical text book that would've taken me over 1 month to regular read and understand (if I got through it). I PRed it it 7 days and had all the understanding I needed out of it. Since then I have only needed to refer back to the mindmap twice to double check some information and make sure that I remembered correctly (I did). I am now in the process of applying syntopic reading to 5 highly detailed and complex medical text books. I started this project last week and had to redefine my purpose because it was WAY too broad. Yesterday I narrowed my purpose, reselected the texts, PR the two that I hadn't previously PR in the morning, dropped two books that wouldn't serve my narrowed purpose, and started activation in the afternoon. I will be continuing today.

"How much of the books that you read are you able to recall?"

I recall all the information that I was looking for as stated in my purpose for reading the material. I have also found that I remember all of the information that I deem neccessary in support of that purpose if I didn't already have that information available to my conscious mind. The PR system is awesome.

"How long did it take you to get to the point where you feel like this PR is actually working for you."

Within one week of learning the system I had my first experience of a book gelling. It took me a long time (trying on and mostly off for a few years) to learn the system because I had preconceived and incorrect notions of what I should be able to do with the system (e.g. instant recall after PRing alone, instant recall of 100% of the book, no manual activation neccessary, pages sticking together during the PR step matters). When I didn't see those results I would get frustrated and conclude that the system wasn't working and put the system on the shelf for another day. I also had problems with developing mind probing questions and pulling out trigger words. I haven't yet fully integrated PR into my life. In time that will happen as I am using it more and more. I will never regular read another text book as long as I live.

My confidence with the system is growing and I can already see that my efficiency with the system is getting better by my experiences with my recent efforts in syntopic reading.

There are a few things that really helped me to learn the system: 1.) I opened my mind and simply followed the steps outlined in the course and book (I played with the system), 2.) I got rid of my preconceived notions of what was supposed to happen and simply noticed what was happening and built on my successes, 3.) I stopped questioning how the system works and accepted that it does, 4.) I removed the pressure I put on myself to perfom and learn material at unreasonable rates for a beginner (one shouldn't expect a hole-in-one thier first time on the golf course or they are going to give up because they can't golf). This DF also helped me tremendously in learning to PR (and, of course, this DF and PRing itself wouldn't be available without LSC). A BIG THANKS to all at LSC.

I think that the problem most people are having with the system is that they have placed unreasonable expectations on themselves and the results they expect with the course as beginners. You shouldn't expect to be able to read like Paul, Pete, or Dana your first time through the course. You should expect to get through any book in 1/3 the time or less when you PR and activate it. This expectation includes the first book you "read" using the PR system. Keep working with the system and you will learn it. If you get frustrated either ask questions and work through the problem or put it up for a while, give it a rest, then come back to it again and work on it then. You might remember that EVERYTHING is best learned in layers. PR is no exception. I am still learning the finer points of the system and will be for a while yet. Actually, I am still learning the most efficient way in which I process written information using the PRing Whole Mind System.

If that didn't answer your question then ask again. I hope it helped someone out there.
