To Mike T.

Read Howard Berg's book.

First, several years ago I took a 4 hour speed-reading seminar by Howard Berg. I got some results and was highly motivated, but I do not read much. Recently I picked up his book again. His methods seem better than other speed-reading books. He claims to read 25,000 wpm, but I believe that he is doing a form of photoreading. And he uses his fingers (hands). All I got from his methods was my method of finger hopping.

Assuming that there are 10 words on a line, I read 50 lines a minute, and thus 500 wpm. Some people might do their calculation as 12 words per line, therefore I read 600 wpm. In the photoreading book it says that 800 wpm should be about the best that a speed reader can hope for, and that is my next goal. But I don't read much, so it will be a while before 800 wpm becomes second nature to me. For now 500 or 600 wpm is good. But, I hope that photoreading will change that.
