I "knew" it wasn't a scam because it's been out so long and it's still selling and this forum proves it's an "active" program- not something that's thrown out there and that's it- like Mega Speed Reading was. I don't even think they sell it anymore and it's always on ebay for around $15. The PhotoReading courses on ebay are rare and they go for over $150, heck for that I'd rather just get a new one.
There are some books that the "moving your fingers down the page" won't work on like "The tao of JKD" by Bruce Lee. I Photoread that when I got to tape #7 where we got to pick a book. For that supereading was great because each concept is separated and the book is choppy- lots of drawings and one line phrases. I'm finding out that even with books that I'd like to slow read (like that JKD one) when I blast thru them I skip what I already know and get right to new stuff. No way I can mind map that book though- it's like an encyclopedia.
Another technique I sorta "fell into" (could say invented but I'm sure I'm not the first to do it) is to rapid read the first line or first sentence of each paragraph to see if I want to rapid read the whole paragraph. Most times I don't. I read the book "Rich dad, poor dad" like that and quickly found the MEAT and left the fluff behind. I think that's the way I'll rapid read from now on. I'm getting away from using a flowing/random hand movement (from mega speed reading) and I let the paragraphs show me where to move my hands. I think that whole hand moving thing is unecessary ALL the time, I just do it when I feel like it.
My wife has to take these banking classes for her State Farm job and she has this huge manual she has to read. I already previewed and PR'd it and I only saw one section with anything she wouldn't already know based on what I know she already studied because she had to take 2 other classes for the job. The funny thing is I can almost see the pages in my head and I can tell the exact positions on the pages where the stuff is. Pretty cool. I think it's sticking in my head because I know I'll have to explain it to her soon. Without SOME motivation I doubt learning is as easy. That may have been my problem when I first started this- I had nothing I had to read, I was just trying to do it.
