I am not nearly concerned about statistics as what works for me. I am a college student, and Mind Mapping so far has been the single most important technique I have learned. I will never go back to regular note taking. The entire course was just about worth the money for teaching me to use Mind Maps.

I wish I had this when I was in college. I definately would have taken on a harder major than the one I picked - communications. I've only done 4 mind maps so far and they really help with remembering what you have to remember. I thought it was funny how in the manual there is both a mind map and an outline of the course. I was doing both and they did both. I'm going to try a color coded mind map ( or #'d and lettered ) linked to more indepth outlines. Sometimes I want to throw one line description on the mind map but it makes it too cluttered.

I knew about Mind Mapping back in the late 70's but never used them until I went back to college. I haven't taken one linear note in 2 years! Mind Mapping is great for writing papers. Instead of having the information on 3 by 5 cards, I have all my notes on the maps.

Check out the mind mapping software at http://www.mindjet.com This is the software recommended by Tony Buzan of "The Mind Mapping Book." I've converted almost all my course notes over to mind maps. It makes everything seem much clearer.

The software has colors, symbols, and all sorts of goodies, and you can convert the mind maps to a web pages if you want to make them accessible to others. They will give you a 50% discount if you are associated with an academic institution.

I have no association with Mindjet, except being a very happy customer.
