Don't get me wrong, I do all the steps, but the thought has crossed my mind. When regular reading a book, isn't my peripheral vision seeing the entire book when i am just reading a word at a time. Wouldn't it compare to consciously seeing the 4 corners, or occupying your mind with a phrase, relax. Say I am playing on the computer, and a show is on TV with the captions on, wouldn't my peripheral pick that up. If all this is true, then what is the difference between everyday peripheral vision and awareness compared to Photoreading?

It seems to me to be a meditative way of reading. Plus you are INTENDING to do something with one part of your mind and relaxing with another part. Maybe consciously focusing on each word as we read blocks the non-conscious absorbing of everything else. On the tapes he said the old way of reading is like pouring water into a funnel that's upside down. You'll still get it in but it's slower.
