Sandy,
I think many fellow photoreaders would agree that the tapes are easier to follow but the book says all of the same stuff. One of the things stressed on the tapes is the part of previewing where you ask yourself "What do I want to get out of this book." (stating your purpose) Even though you are learning to photoread by reading, I don't see why stating your purpose won't help. Before you read any further in your book about photoreading, get into the accelerated learning state (if you have gotten that far) and once you are fully relaxed, repeat to yourself what you want to learn. I see no reason why this shouldn't clear things up for you. Good luck.
