fast reading has already been "done" to death and PR doesn't cover it.

Andy may have thought you were referring to speed reading techniques.

Yes, you will naturally read faster when reading normally. At least, i know that i read faster as a result of PhRing. It may have to do w/ developing periphereal vision. I quickly determine what i want to read out of say the newspaper. I don't bother w/ every word like i used to. I get the gist & then decide if i want more info or not.

But, in addition, if i'm reading a novel (which i don't do very often), i do read faster than i did prior to learning how to PhR.

enjoy

I just meant that there are no speedreading techniques in the sense of reading every word faster. You go from whole to parts. Photoread the whole book and then go after what you want in more detail. So yeah you get "faster" but you the goal isn't to try and read every word, "word for word" faster.

I'm talking about fast reading techniques...which is another technique for reading I guess....I started a bit with it...but I didn't have much resource. I felt that PR is better so I ordered it...

my whole question is...is PReading good for reading one page or two pages? or i have to fast read it?
if i have to fast read it, where can i learn fast reading technique...

Hey lallous,

The great thing about the system is that it's a system. While photoreading is a very integral part of that system, the other parts can be used on their own for various applications (even besides reading...a fixed point of a attention helps peripheral vision, and stating a purpose mentally before many activities avoids that pause of "What am I doing right now?"). For a one page or two page article, I think Andy said that you're probably okay just previewing and the super-reading and dipping afterwards, sans PReading. (If you didn't get the course yet, these terms will become second nature).

As far as fast reading technique, there are ways to "tweak" your reading speed, though in actuality it's really just breaking "bad" reading habits. As Andy pointed out, sub-vocalisation is a big one, one I remember from the Evelyn Woods program (they also had a different name for Andy's Super Ultra Mega Double-Decker Hyper Fast Hand of Sonic Boom Death Move, but it was hardly as exciting).

I guess, to sum it all up:

1) You don't have to PR a one page article.
2) You don't necessarily have to fast read it either...you could just preview and superread and dip it (completely different from fast reading).
3) Or you could do what I'm starting to do and just Skitter it (usually on articles that aren't so hot, but have facts you'd like to throw at people when they aren't looking).

All these terms come with the course.

PS - Andy, that tape you suggested getting on another message (the free tape of that 6 min. news clip) just came in. You're right, the expression that guy makes was pretty funny. It also made me feel better.
PPS - Is there a way to put an automatic signature on posts?
PPPS - Just out of curiosity...what's the difference between a junior member and a member?

lallous - Basically, but please remember that the other techniques are usually more of a compliment to photoreading. They're for activation, mostly. On a one page article or a few pages, you can use those techniques alone because the article is so short that it can hold in your conscious mind without having too much of a problem. On longer material however, you will soon become lost, and your speed will suffer. Don't worry...when your course gets in, you'll get it all. Just remember that photoreading is only a STEP, and by no means is it all you have to do to read a book. Don't expect to finish a novel in 10 minutes. It'll probably be closer to 3 hours at first, and slowly get shorter as you get better.

ahdy - how long are the articles, and if quite long, did you photoread them first, then super read and dip a couple times, just once, or used skitter or rapid reading instead?
