Steve,
I was able to get the gist of the course and have some success with it in under 10 hours or so, and every hour spent on it after that was basically getting better at it. Don't worry about the time factor, even if you don't do so hot, it won't be in the hundred hours factor, and 10 hours failing at something for me isn't too bad when I consider the amount of time I spent watching Pokemon.
