I used to be really good but I haven't seriously practiced since 1994, that's when I graduated college and started working. I used to be able to write songs before I took actual lessons. Now too much of what was taught to me comes out when I play instead of my own stuff. In high school I used to improvise songs on the spot at parties with a variety of drunk people singing whatever came to them and what came out was histerical. Kinda like that show "who's line is it." Ah, the good ol' days of no worries. I could lock myself in my room and play for hours and no one would bother me. Nothing screws up creativity more than OTHER PEOPLE. Isn't it weird that after 3-5 hours of being alone you can come up with a melody or a saying that's so profound you actually fall on the floor and you're like, "Whoa. Where'd that come from" and then someone butts into to your peaceful day and instantly you're like, on earth again. Man I hate that.
