I deleted the part of your question up to the part that was important. You have identified a problem: your fingers don't move w/ ease. Harry, that's enuff info. Just break stuff down into little bits like the movement of your fingers. Listen for the goal of just moving your fingers like the wind over the frets. That'll get results.

Then for Silva stuff just do the blue fr. w/ identifying the problem of the fingers. White fr. w/ your fingers moving effortlessly. Visualize your favorite song & playing it nicely. OR just some chords sounding great. Try to include your sense of hearing in the white fr. b/c that will help. Increase your desire by maybe visualizing playing for friends who are enjoying your music.

Then set a trigger to anchor it. At the alpha level set a trigger like: Every time i do ..... my ability to play the guitar gets better & better. Set another trigger for your fingers: Every time i do .... my fingers move easier & more clearly when i play my guitar.

So, in a very short time you have: Listened to a Paraliminal, visualized for success, programmed physical triggers. Really, i do all of these steps & achieve super success.

I suspect that I have a subconscious pattern of holding on and that this is applying to body fat as well as everything else. It seems my only hope and the reason I've delved into paraliminals and Silva is to let my subconscious figure things out because my conscious can't seem to. Visualizing process seems to be a conscious mind kind of decision, isn't it....Harry

Yes, you need to have ideas what may be blocking you. If you do not, don't listen to Side A. Just do Side B.

Try this:

Goal: To improve my guitar playing.

Behavior that may be getting in the way of my goal:

How I feel about my abilities
My internal response to my playing
How I am fingering the strings

--in other words, use your imagination. Come up with statments that work for you. Ambiguity can work when you are not sure.

Listen once for each of the above, or each behavior you put in the list.

Sorry this took so long, but I was having problems posting on the forum. But thanks Pete, those are probably the exact ways I stop myself from playing better. Just hard things to get a handle on. Harry

***They suggest that visualizing the result is actually harmful because it provides a false sense of satisfaction and it provides no information about how to achieve your desired result. On the other hand, visualizing the process is said to result in enhanced planning and lowered anxiety.***

Well this just seems like nonesense to me. Visualization is essentially a creative act and there is really no need to bother with worrying about the process. Unless you are visualizing for some conscious preformance, rehersing some complex actions or such, I would focus on the end result. The mind has the power to create the desired end and if you force a particular way (process) for this to be achieved you are immediately limiting the creative ability of your deeper mind.

Most people fail at visualization because they don't take into account the need to develop a strong conviction and they usually give up too soon. A weak picture of something in your mind won't do anything. It needs to be charged with absolute conviction that it is so. Picture the end result and feel it as your reality, pretend it is already real and work on developing this conviction. Thought is creative and when properly focused and energized it can work miracles.

Well Pratibha that cetainly makes sense as well. I guess i will experiment with both ways. There are certain areas for me where the process is just not available to my conscious mind. Career would be one of them. I can think of absolutely nothing that anyone would pay me for that I would like to do. However, I suspect that there are things out there that I am just not aware of. A solution might be to visualize myself leaving for work in the morning with a happy smile on my face and let the subconscious take care of the rest. In the end it is probably just a matter of semantics, anyway. Maybe each part of the process is a goal in itself, like little battles in the war. Then again maybe not. Who knows. Thanks for your input.....HArry
