I like the idea of photolistening, but first:
Debate teams can talk fast (I was on one) but not at 900 wpm...for reference, in 1988 the world record was set by John Moschitta (the micromachine guy) at 586 wpm. Even if the record was beaten since then, I don't think the average highschool debater regularly beats that.
But, thats beside the point. I'm not sure if the subconscious mind can sort out layered audio, but it might. I'm curious if any of the guys doing NLP research on those paraliminal tapes (they have two voices at the same time, one in each ear) know if the subconscious sorts out each one...but on the tapes there's only *some* overlap...they're not directly on top of one another. They're closing the computer lab, so if I can, I'll research it when I get home.
I'm really interested because then (tee hee hee) we could have audio books that play what was once two sides of a tape on one side, while in an Alpha state, cutting audiobook time in half (even more if they speak faster and layer more than two tracks of vocals).
I'm not big on audio books, and we really couldn't *activate* the tapes, but if one mastered the spontaneous activation of "photolistening" I'm sure we'd have some interesting results.
