Go ahead and Photoread (for all the time it takes) all the "how to" books you want if your purpose is to pick up writing exercises that you will actually do but I wouldn't put any stock in anything anyone says about writing because the field has changed alot in the past decade. One person writes one manuscript that's rejected once and for the rest of his life he writes for "Writing" magazine about the "horrible" industry writing has become and another person writes 20 manuscripts before finally getting one published and he says it's the best business in the world and you should go for it. THAT's what I'm talking about when I said they're cr*p. You can't tell who's for real and who is just a self-help novelist because he can't do anything else.
