I am studying computer engineering and have a lot of trouble when it comes to algebra and calculus.
Math books are not like other type of books, you just don't get much from previewing, at least not me because I don't get much understanding out of a math book.
Today I went to the library and used just the photofocus step with about 20 math books.
If photofocus really gets information into your subconscious mind and there really is a preconscious processing then when at school the teacher explains some of the topics I have photoread I should have a big advantage, shouldn't I?
Is this "photofocusing-a-lot-of-books-one-after-another" of any use? what do you think?

hey!!! iīm in the same position. fir my business degree i have to master an awful lot of math stuff. up until now i have photoread a couple of books but havenīt realized any significant improvement yet.

does anyone out there have any suggestions for improving your math skills with photoreading?
i have been thinking about somehow modifiying the rapid reading set in order to adjust it to math.

I have been playing arround with photoreading for about 10 weeks now ( 1 school quarter)
Im taking 4 math related classes and i have seen a major improvement in my understanding of the subject matter.
this is what ive been doing and it seems to be working for me.
to refresh my memory I photoread all my math books i could find, from highschool texts to 4th year college calculus books .. i have not activated most of them so far.. with exception to my calculus book and Lin. Alg book. Im taking 4th year Calc and a Linear Alg. class, so ive been spending more time with those two books. what i do is preview and photoread about once or twice a week .. then before a homework is due or before a test I try to activate the matterial. I go through it a couple of times and with each consecutive activation session the matterial becomes easier to understand. when i activate i usualy do a postview, followed by supereading and dipping. sometimes i find it easier to skitter .. i end up mixing most of the activating techniques together .. it realy dosent matter how you do it.. think of it as a "Make your own" activation technique.. what the folks at Learning Strategies Corp. give you is a suggestions on how you should proceede.. thats why they say Play with it and see what happens.. NOPS..
I usualy spend abut 30 minutes to an hour to activate.. im sure if i would spend more time with it my comprehention would increase, but so far what ive been doing seems to help.. i'm not having as much trouble as i would have with with calculus.. and the matterial actualy interests me now, i have been given a new perspective on math in general.
i have also had an experience with spontaneous activation in my Linear Alg. class. i made a post on it a few weeks ago.. it realy got me excited that with not much effor i'm starting to understand and become interested in a subject i always though i was not good at.
so my suggestion to you guys is to stick with it and dont force yourself too much if you dont see results right away. just keep an open mind and try to become interested in the matterial.. ask yourself why your learning this.. and how will it help you later in life .. dont worry if you dont have answers for those questions yet.. they will come to you in time. as long as you stick with it and believe in yourself that photoreading works, you are guaranteed to see results in a short while.
