That's exactly the way it seems as soon as you start. The steps everyone likes in the beginning are the ones that throw your conscious mind a bone right off the bat.
If I were you I'd call one of the coaches (free) right away and start doing what they say. All you need is some encouragement because if you really believe it works then you really do start getting info from your unconscious mind that's triggered by the book and the steps.
