Subvocalization Question

I'm kinda new to PR been trying it on and off for about a year now. I guess I'm logically minded because I can't seem to concentrate on the text when I try and stop subvocalization. Is there a way to stop subvocalization? Also how long will it generally take to get break through it. Thanks.
