In the MCAT before, I PRed and then picked out relevant words and tried to search for the answers. The exammakers know that the majority of the population taking the exam are scientists that like to search for specific facts and details. Scientists dislike ambiguity. They work on this weakness by setup traps in the answers (i.e. similar words used or assumptions based on outside knowledge.) Furthermore, most of their questions relate more to the main idea or an overview of the passage (i.e. what can you infer from... or suppose this... or what is the central theme.) You can not just look for the answers in the passage by skimming. I tried that already. I usually run out of time.
