Im interrupted by all sorts of things. At work, my job is mostly crises driven so my phone rings quite a bit as well as my email is very active. I need to respond quickly to issues. My job also entails technical planning and being able to guide my customer with their technical plans. To do this, I need to stay current, reading a large number of documents. Right now, trying to stay current is a losing battle with all the fires I need to fight. I'm hoping Photoreading can turn that around, but the constant emergencies aren't helping. We tell ourselves that if we can help the customer plan better, there would be fewer fires to fight. But we can't improve the planning because we're too busy fighting fires.
At home, it's a different story, I've got a 15 month old daughter and my wife is expecting our second. It seems that every time I try to activate a book at home, my daughter comes in with a book of her own for me to read to her. There is no contest what gets my time at home, hangin' with my daughter is an incredible joy, a lot of work, but a joy. When we finally get her off to bed, I'm just plain too tired to do anything.
