How long to do something? Play with it, and notice the results. I'd be more inclined to run the process over a one or two day period and then review the results two or three weeks down the road. Allow the changes to occur. Notice what may be happening in the mean time, but do not judge the results. In a couple weeks, decide what to do next based on the results you've seen. In other words, follow the Natural Brilliance model.
