As someone who has been trying to learn photoreading for a couple of months, and has yet to see it work for me, let me add my two cents. The reason why I bought the program was the promise of reading faster, and the guarantee. If you buy the program from LSC, they offer a 30 day guarantee that can be extended to 6 months. Although, I haven't gotten it to work for me yet, I am confident that it can work. If you scan some of the postings, there are many posts from folks who had no success for a long time, then it just started to work.
Browse the older posts here to set proper expectations and know that there is work involved to learn it. The infomercial can be misleading and there is a radio spot I've heard that is incredibly misleading.
Bottom line is that I see this course as near no risk, so I decided to give it a try.
