No problem.

Now take your stereograms - one page in each hand - put them side by side in front of you and take an "bay window ocean view" into the white room beyond both pages.

Train your eyes to take in more by learning to diverge even more. A book will be child's play after that.

Good luck and...

Too easy! I can see stereograms pretty much at will now, and two s/grams side-by-side is no problem either. Transferring the "Thousand Yard Stare" to a book, I can visualize the spine between facing pages as what someone described as a folded over bookmark. So is that the "blip”?

I don't seem to have any problem maintaining a steady blip as I turn pages. I have to wear glasses for reading (just age related) but even with glasses I cannot actually read any words and maintain the blip at the same time. Peripherally, I can see that a word or more is say highlighted, even italized, but I can't tell what the word is without shifting focus and losing the blip.

Once I have what I deem to be a good blip, I can then (very often anyway) slide a stereogram across the pages into my view and it is instantly visible, only proving I suppose that I am using approximately the same focus in each case (book and s/gram). I hope this is the aim?

One thing though, I can consciously adjust the width of the blip, even to the extent where it overlaps the nearest text margin. I assume this is undesirable, and that I should be aiming at the "stereogram focus" mentioned above?

Thanks for taking the trouble. I appreciate the tips and now have more confidence that I might be able to at least get started with this PR stuff.

- Bill

I am in the same boat as Terror, I can pretty much get a plip page at will, and also turn the pages and keep the blip...but as Terror said, most of the words i see are blurry and crossed over each other. I dont understand what I'm doing wrong..should by blip be larger? or smaller? right now it's about and inch wide...i dunno what to do about this...so, please help. Also, about the only words i do see are in a small circle around the area i am diverging from...(the middle of the book)...thanks,

Downtown and Terror:

The specific feedback you two are giving me about your beginning abilities is fantastic. I was also as curious as you both are about how to more easily get the outcome I also wanted. I grew a little impatient, desired to play even more, and then just went for it.

I hope that each of you is starting to realize how much fun this stuff is to you. How, when you curiously try something new, you see what happens and easily adjust.

Now, the recommended width of the blip page is 1/2 to 1 inch. The PWMS doesn't say that you shouldn't diverge further, but it doesn't say whether it is helpful to the system or not.

The physical explanation of visual divergence is that your pupils are simply increasing in size. For example, if your eyes were two flashlights, the origin of the beam is smaller when your pupils are focused up close and larger when you are focused in your "Thousand Yard Stare".

When you go into Photofocus, your pupils dilate to widen the origin of the flashlight beam beginning in your eyes. If the beam is wide enough (ie-very dilated), you could take in both pages of the book in one eye's visual field. When you dilate both pupils wide enough, both eyes are taking in the whole book which results in both pages on top of both pages looking like mixed text.

Now, I'm sure the human mind can handle that perfectly fine. However, I am sticking with the recommendations of Paul and the others at Learning Strategies who suggest keeping the blip page at 1/2 to 1 inch.

The point of visual divergence is not "how far you can go". The point is to simply diverge so that your conscious mind won't try to process the text. Like to book says, if your vision is blurry you *may* be still trying to process blurry text. If the text looks like it is printed on a piece of plexiglass but still blurry - then you've attained photofocus.

You both should feel confident that you've attained a skill that probably 50% of the world can't do because they don't yet have the appropriate strategy to do so.

Nice going - Both of YOU!

Good Luck and...

ps- NLP Volume I has a nice explanation of conscious and unconscious processes - particularly the section on signal to noise ratio. If you can get a copy, read that section. You'll understand the scientific foundations of photofocus.

commonsense,
thanks a lot for helping out, I was playing with the blip page last night, and I finally felt really relaxed with my eyes...they were just kinda floating it seemed like...anyway, when i was (what it felt like to me) relaxed...the blip page kinda dissapeared...almost, but it was still there ghostly looking...its hard to discribe. I am not sure if this is the true "photofocus" or not, help me out here. thanks,
PS - when I am in the relaxed state, the pages come together that it looks as a solid flat peice of paper with no curves. i also see the white outer ring of the book...(the white ring really shows up)...from what ive read on the posts, I'm guessing that is good? thanks again,
DownTown

Hello everyone!
I read Paul's Photoreading book and it says there that "even if you don't see the blip page, you can still be a proficient photoreader" (focus your eyes on the center crease, and see the four corners) . I'm curious, since I'm one of those people who can't find the blip page

How many of you guys here can photoread with good results WITHOUT seeing the blip page?

Downtown:

What if you could better the chances of spontaneously activating the photoread material *where* and *when* you wanted to?

For example, let's say you photoread material on fixing your computer and thought to yourself, "I wish I could better my chances of spontaneous activation *while* I was fixing my computer." I think you can, but I don't know if Learning Strategies has figured it out yet.

I'd love to know if anyone else would like to learn how also.If so, I will start another thread to that affect.

Let's be real clear here - I am saying that you can use the PWMS to do this. I'm not advocating using anyone else's stuff. This is the best system in the world as far as I'm concerned.

Let's just say that there is always room to accelerate your progress.

Good luck, and...

just search for spontaneous activation, there are tons of topics on it.
