I bought the photoreading 3rd edition book last year, and have dabbled with the techniques and method with uncertain results.
I would be most appreciative to hear from people who have actually learned the PR whole mind system just from reading the book.

I'm especially interested in hearing your success stories using the system...thanks in advance

I personally learned the PRS with the book. I have noticed that the applicatioon of the method depends a great deal on your mental attitude of accepting the process.
I have been on the system (sounds like I'm losing weight or something) for now about 4 months. At first I was thinking 'this won't work, but, maybe it will' or 'it will work for others, but, not for me'. It will come to you with continuous application of the method(as you can see from other posts on the subject). This means using it for all reading material. Of course, you won't use PRS on a few lines of an email or thing like this.
During this time you will find that information on the subject that you PRS will come to you easily. I've personally found that during this month I can recall information that I've PR'd 2 months ago. Not completely everthing, but the theme and sub themes of the books with some details. At the time, I was thinking 'I don't think I'm doing it right' and second guessing myself.
Now, what I have been recalling this month from previous PR sessions only fortifies my resolve to excel as a PR'r(word-?).

Now, I'm am probably moronic for it taking me this long to get some results that I can see, so don't think I HAS to take this long. :O

What I'd like to know is if it really is soooo beneficial to go to a PRS seminar. What more can you get from the book or PRS course that you have to pay $750.00 to get it?

I almost meet your needs. I actually own the home study course. I bought it a few years ago but never committed myself to it. Recently I have returned to the idea, but find myself without a cassette player (and the unwillingness to purchase one for the sake of this course). Anyway, i am re-learning from the book.

I would say i have had some marginal success. Some recent fiction i have read, I have been able to read ***TO MY SATISFACTION*** in about 1.5 hours. Note that is usually comprised of 3 to 4, 20-30 minute sittings over a couple of days. This is lightning fast for me.

The non-fiction I am attempting is in relation to a test i am taking at the end of June. I will photo-read, rapid-read and super-read right up to the test....so i don't have any measuring units for you, but internally I feel very confident.

Steve44, while i believe in the system, i must admit to date that I can not single out a conscious benefit from the actual PR step. Much of what I have achieved to date, I feel is predominately from reading with a purpose and "layering" the information with multiple passes through the material.

I hope you find some benefit from the above.

Thanks for the insights, and I hope your test in June goes well (I am sure it will, with your positive mental attitude). The 'layering' and multiple passes through the material would seem to be the keys to making the system work?...

10000 posts may seem like alot ... but think about how much more knowledgable and inspired you will be after the read. A good day on the weekend should do it!

A person's word, phrase or paragraph may all be what is needed to launch you to the next level!

I think, for me, learning to layer and trust the "quick", purposeful passes through my text is indeed the key to early and relatively immediate success from the "learning system".

My actual PR skills may already be influencing my learning, by like I said, I am unaware of it and with out "WOW" evidence. I remain optimistic....and encourage you to do the same.

The PR step seems for me to be building comprehension or "layering" that you guys have been speaking of. That is to say that when you go back through to super read/dip and/or rapid read, multiple photoreading sessions (such as on p77 of the book) increase familiarity with the book. Try the test on p77. I tend to just rapid read after the PR step, but I still whizz through the book!

I learned the entire system through the book, and don't forget everyone: LSC offers UNLIMITED, FREE coaching, to guide you to the road to mastering the system, and then using it, and using it until you will eventually be able to read as fast as Pete or Paul.

Uncertain results? When you get results, you KNOW they're good. Otherwise, it's not results. My first time PRing and activating my first book outside of the PRing book itself, I was completely awed. I read it in just under 2 hours. Decoding Your Dreams, by Robert Langs.

As for the PhotoReading step, I have felt the results. With several encounters with spontaneous activation, I have completely changed my way of thinking. The first 5-6 times with spontaneous activation, I could barely believe I actually just pulled the stuff out of my subconious.

That's inspiring! You mention spontaneous activation happening 5-6 times and surprising you, do you have good results when consciously activating as well?
