Well, I rented Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, and decided I wanted to learn to speak Chinese. Anyway, would the movie help in activation? What's the best idea for learning a new language? Photoread a Chinese-English dictionary a few times a day, and watch or listen to programs in Chinese? Besides, I need to learn the language for business, anyway. Any idea would be helpful.

Watching and listening to programs of the language you are trying to learn certainly helps... helped my mum to speak fluent english.. soaps are best because of their general day to day carry over and repetitive common words. PR the dictionary won't hurt as well as getting yourself involved in the language whatever way you feel inclined. Formal classes help too as well as guiding you to teachers of the language you'll have others learning with you and can PR the text books... just do it for the fun of it.
