I find myself putting things into linear form sometime just to bring the MM together.. in order to be able to explain it to others for example. Expecially with text of instruction where this comes first, then this, then that. I allow a mind map to broarden each of the steps but sometimes its not the details that I need to know its the order so bulleted list come in handy.
Linear form is still valid thats how we usually communicate. Use whatever form you you think is suited to the material... sometimes just a one line comment is enough to bring up all the details.
