I've had trouble lately with the "alertness" in the relaxed state of alertnes....and no, I'm not getting over 8 hours of sleep per night....but anyway, how do you activate in the relaxed state of alertness without getting bored or sleepy?

Try the 10 minute super charger. As always remind yourself that you want to be alert after the session. Note though the effect may not be immediate some find it sometimes take 20 minutes or so to feel refreshed and alert.

To avoid boredom have a purpose when activating. Stick to time frame ie. 30 minute sessions are usually suggested but using shorter time of 20 minutes you push yourself a little this would help keep the focus as the end is almost in sight. As a rule always stick within the time you decided at the beginning, it helps discipline the mind to stay with it. Repeat as often as necessary taking short breaks of 5 minutes every 30 minutes. You might do two 20 minute session without a break but do take a 5min. break after the second session. Even if you think you would be finished in another 20... take the break... in that 5 minutes a lot can gel, 20 minutes might be more than you need to finish. When we go longer than the time we set out at the beginning or not having a time frame and work for 1hr plus stretches we run into trouble. These are some of the reasons we start losing concentration. Not taking the 5 minute stretch and noticing other things.

Ever heard of using Baroque Largo music to attain a state of focus? I learned this at a performance seminar and got a CD. It helps. Does anyone recommend using this to attain the accelerated learning state?
