It seem so me you've discovered the impact of self limiting beliefs. Unfortuantely there are few methods to overcome "other" peoples self limiting beliefs. In fact there are many occasions when we impose them upon ourselves and cannot see them or refuse to see them.
The only way that we can get around it is by demonstrating the skill ourselves. Yes initally you are doing something unique .. then you find one person that is willing, who has the belief that what you can do, they can learn too. They let you teach them, they don't give up either. Then it becomes possible to teach more... the 100th monkey effect.
The problem is that most readers have forgotten that it took them 2 to 3 years to get basic reading skills building a volcabuary and comprehension skills. Some people haven't even got reading comprehension under their belt using the old method. They expect to learn a new way of reading in less than 2 days? They don't notice that even basic computer skills can be explained in 2 days but it takes week or even months of practice till they are skills that are second nature to them. Yes PhotoReading can be taught in 2 days. The live seminars attest to that. The practice and application of the skill is up to the individual.
Your school doesn't have a library either?
Reminds me of the science textbook that was issued to me in my first year of high school. It was pristine new undamaged. Printed in 1921... the year it was given to me was 1974. The only use we found for it was intially lugging it back and forth to school (no lockers either) till we wised up and left at home. Handed it back at the end of the school year. They gave it back to us the following year. All our other reference text were much more recent in comparision... 1942 averaged their years of publication.
My youngest brother had informed me that in 1983 they finally had a science teacher that said "you got to be joking.... throw those books in the bin". 32 American science books in mint condition ended up on the town dump.
Ah well. Enstein was kicked out of school so it's not a school education that a genius makes. It's an open mind, that even for a moment will let go of limiting beliefs, just to see what would happen if?... that discovers new solutions to old problems.
