AlexK has nailed one very important point. You can't push someone into learning. Without motivation it not impossible but almost. That's the idea behind having a purpose in PR, give the mind motivation. Heck it you knew how to install motivation in anyone for anything you wanted done, why you could... gee I'm rambling again.
I AlexK ploy about hyping the books value and providing opportunity is cheesey, but it would probably work with some folks. Find the motivator and you wont be able to help your brother fast enough. However, finding his motivator is harder than teaching him the material.
If you can motivate him, then the seminar is not necessary. If you think the seminar will provid the motivation, you may be right, but you may be saddly disappointed. Good luck.

That's true. Motivation can be a very big problem. That's one of the biggest things, which goes along with confidence, that can affect the entire learning process.

Youngprer, you are right about the confidence. My brothers problem is they feel inferior to me  I sure don't see them that way but whenever topics about learning come up they don't like to know it from me. A few years ago my brother studied a new career to be an aircon mechanic. Had to write an essay report type thing and asked me how to do it. Told him how to go about it... drew him a mindmap to keep him focused on answering the question and left him to it. Typed it up for him (I had access to a computer at work)and added the drawings and illustrations he wanted where he wanted them. He scored 9 out of 10, his teacher said if he did any better than that you would have gone overboard and not impressed the teacher. You know the sad part?... he came home and said to me.... "guess how much "we" got on "our" assignment?" I didn write it as far as I was concerned I never had anything to do with it. Sometimes it has to be someone else who teaches them. I agree that my ploy sounds cheesey and sometimes it works like reverse psychology... don't sell them on it... don't defend it... keep it out of their way and they get curious and when curious they are usually a little more open and willing to try it and see. I totally agree. And yes, my friends Chase and Kyle feel like only "I" can do that. That's "your" thing, they say. They feel they lack the ability.
Speaking of curiousity, you might think back to the "Teaching a Teacher" topic in some of the earlier posts, and here's some news on that front: As it turns out, I never do mind maps. Never. But, just to "test" him on whether or not he would say, "what's he doing?" I started doing one on a book that I read last night. It's old, and I had never gotten around to it. It was a Prima Strategy Guide for Age of Empires. Anyways! I explained the thing to him, and that seemed to slightly peak his interest just a bit futhur. Mind maps are kinda fun!

I thank you all for your input and one of the things I can see is that the best/easiest kind of learning is when the person has a 'need','desire', 'aspiration', 'disposition' or as tracy indicates,the attitude of a seeker. To implant this motivation in another is difficult at best. Iam2 alluded to this in his post. This has got me thinking that there should be several ways that I can approach this, without closing the door on the listener(in this case my little brother). It is only on a scale of which is the best way to approach the subject, since the PRS system itself is an excellent tool for anyone to have and apply.
I have been thinking on what he DOES like to do(ie: He has an Xbox, he likes to ride around on his bike, he likes to find out everything on space and NASA, etc) and generate a list of these meditating on which one(s) I can use to have HIM realize the value of the PRS. I see that it is not a matter of imposing a 'new' learning tool on him, but having him imagine the possiblities if he DID acquire this 'new' learning tool. Letting him know that I am there to 'help' him learn, so as to feel confident in trying something new.
Well, I still need to iron out a few more details before I approach it, but I will purchase the PRS Home course. The youngprer brings up a good point in that, unless we both go together, my brother will likely not benefit/learn the system at the seminar. I will bring it up this weekend with him. If any further suggestions/comment, I thank you for them before hand.

Bet he'd love it if he could learn all the gaming cheats in the newstand without having to purchase all those magazines  Alex

Hey,
Yes! I will probably have to demo the PRS with some mags on gaming and cheat codes !!! That WILL impress him!!!
Maybe even PR some stratagies, activate them, AND then beat him on his own games!!!
I can then play with the XBOX as much as I want!!!
Uh, of course, I'm just, uh, showing him the value of the PR system, yeah thats it...

Just video games... Just funnin',  I don't particularly like video games but if I can do something that my brother likes with him and show him how PR can be useful in, say, reading through magazines about the video games he has, well, I will try it out. Actually, I am trying to tempt him to see the usefulness of using the Force that is in him already! I wish him to be the most powerful of PR Jedi!!!
