Hey Pete,

I was just wondering, has Learning Strategies ever received a letter from a parent who homeschools their children and incorporated the courses offered by Learning Strategies (PR, MO, NB, GC and others)into the homeschoolers day?

I'm certainly not Pete, but when I grow up *G* I plan to homeschool my kids. I will likely use these methods.

If I may give my two cents about this:

A technique such as Photoreading seems appropriate to be taught in school, and would probably benefit kids tremendously, but the other courses such as Natural Brilliance and Genius Code seem (to me) to require a much higher level of experience and maturity to study, comprehend and implement.

Perhaps Paul or Pete could comment on this?

I'm not Paul or Pete, but I am 14, and I must say - even 3-5 years ago I could have learned things from Natural Brilliance and Genius Code. The only reason I have not gotten the courses already is of course:money restraints.

Just about anyone of any age can learn/accomplish any goal in an area from LSC. Any area. All it takes is appeal to the subject, and undivided interest. (Note:undivided interest, not necessarily undivided attention.) For example, the main reason for learning PhotoReading is eventually achieving tremendous speeds. The main reason for QiGong is to heal yourself and others, the main reason for Genius Code is to 'determine what those symbolic images in your mind really mean.'

Getting it?

And as a minor note, I don't know how, but PhotoReading has a massive amount of benefits within itself. Even with focus. . .just last night I felt completely. . .spaced out and my mind was blank. I couldn't really concentrate on anything. And then, almost if it was automatic, my brain felt. . .like it was sort of tingling and slightly vibrating. Felt good. Then, after that, I was able to concentrate on things again for the night.

I think that learning PR'ing would be easier for a younger person (teens to early teens) simply because they have far less to un-learn! :-)

Youngprer,

Absolutely, younger people would not only be able to learn the stuff from Natural Brilliance and the Genius Code. They would have a life long skill that would help them in many areas of their life. The same as the mature learners are now discovering. As fenris said the younger learners have a lot less to unlearn they have an open mind to try and fail (yes failing is part of the learning process). The imagination of younger people is still in a fluid flow state. It provides more options than the all or nothing thinking that seems to develop as we mature.

For most people school is were we learnt that failure is not acceptable, to get an answer or 2 wrong we learn is totally unacceptable. By about 17 years of age this is becomming so ingrained that we see anxiety develop. Notice it here on the forum, as they get older the more worried they become about being able to learn to photoread yet they probably never worried about the months or years it initially too them to learn to ride a bike when they were younger. they just decided to learn and did. They accepted the training wheels on the bike but can't accept them in the photoreading course. The younger generations accept that they may not get it right the first time and keep at it, they panic less when it doesn't work right away. They don't see it as a failure not to get it right the first time but as a learning/discovery curve, finding out what they need to work on or just trying again until it clicks within them.

Tools like Natural Brilliance and Genius Code in the hands of younger generations will help them avoid the trap of "I must know it all or else I am a failure" thinking, that schooling so indirectly instills in us. Most students forget to go into a test with a relaxed mind accepting that they may get a few answers wrong. I think that when someone learns skills like those taught in Genius Code or Natural Brilliance the student remains more flexible because he recognises his own skills better.

That is afterall what those LSC courses are about. Staying flexible and identifying the skills that you have. Finding out what works and doesn't work for you and then adapting what you've learnt to achieve the goals that you want on an ongoing basis. Remaining flexible teaches you that its OK not to get it absolutely right the first time we try it. Our wanting to get it right the first time is often why we procastinate on learning new skills.

To learn one needs an open mind. A willingness to try. Curiousity to explore ones mistakes and adaptability to try something different. It doesn't matter where or how one is schooled then.

I agree wholeheartedly with your commments about the techniques in Genius Code and Natural Brilliance being beneficial for young people. With their flexible and open minds, these courses would be extremely powerful. Techniques such as Direct Learning and the Creativity Enhancement techniques in GC could easily produce genius capabilities, if people were to start using them from a young age.

My only concern is that without a certain level of experience and maturity, there is very little foundation for a person to find their way around. The Natural Brilliance Generator can create quite some confusion (which it is designed to do) in an experienced person. But such a person, with a certain level of awareness, can handle the confusion, and use its effects productively. I am not sure what is could do with an immature person. Some of the posts, such as the one about wanting to make love, remind me that these powerful tools can easily be mis-used.

Maybe there should be two versions: an intermediate and an advanced version of these courses.

Actually the fact that younger people handle confusion better makes it easier for them to move through the confusion. They acknowledge confusion and don't get blocked by it. I think young people are more capable of solving problems in their lives than we give them credit for.

In reference to the post about wanting to make love post and issues like wanting one particular person to be in their lives, I see it as an outpouring of the 'all or nothing thinking', and the confusion and frustation associated with it without the means to work through it. It is very difficult to get out of these ruts.

With tools like GC and NB as well as the other Courses offered by LSC and other companies that aim to teach life enhancing skills in the hands of the younger people I believe that they would climb out of these ruts a lot quicker. Young people are much more capable than we give them credit for... if the courses were to prove too difficult for them, they, in their confusion would recognise it an let it go. It still remains the responibility of adults around these young people to act as guides. For eons young people have had to endure a variety of hardships... each generation has different problems (drugs and guns in schools and child slave labour in other parts of the world come to mind as problems the current generation faces)and yet there is still consistant ones that they need to deal with... abuse - mentally and physically, from their peers as well as adults. Each individual develops their own skills at their own pace and not all of the younger generation would be ready for products lie GC and NB. The ones that are will be drawn to it and I think it best that be allowed to give it a go, most certainly with the help of a more experience mentor, whether it be parent, teachers or cousellors. Personally I'd rather see them turning to tools like these to work through the difficult phases of their lives, than to turn to drugs or alcohol or similar means to overcome the pains of their experience.

Any tool misused has the knack of causing problems for the individual intent upon misusing them sooner or later they discover the consequences of their actions. The fact remains that we are all human and we all look for a quick solution to our problems, so at any age we can find ourselves misusing our skills. Adults can only do their best to guide. Sadly sometimes only experience is the harsh and extreme teacher.

The fact is that LSC courses are aimed toward the adults. I believe that there are individuals working on making similar tools like the GC for the younger people. In the mean time if a teenager wants to try courses like NB and GC I say don't hold them back, help them.

While our programs are aimed at adults, there is much that can be taught to kids, and we've heard from a fair number of parents who homeschool their kids and include our programs. Of course, PhotoReading is number 1.
