I just started to finally try to photoread my first book, the photoreading book, with strong beleif in myself and i got into the Ideal State, but after a few minutes of grabbing 3 or 4 pages at once almost EVERY time, i got ANGRY! i even loosened the spine of the book like i had learned. i dont understand how i can turn the pages one at a time at a page per second... its just not working, does anyone have any tips? im using the method Paul said, sliding the finger across the top and catching with the thumb, but i keep on grabbing 3 at once. i know your supposed to not worry about it because you can just come back, but im only getting about half of the book photoread... that just wont work for me... i need to know of any tricks or methods that you guys have discovered. thanks

I kinda pinch the bottom of the pages, then I roll it across my fingers and flip it open. Its like a snap to a thumbs up.

after some reading on past posts, most of my problem i think is im going too fast for a beginning PR'er. so, ill slow down but i also want to know if theres any other tips because eventually ill get faster and ill need new techniques. thanks for that one, but i think i might crease the pages of my book, and im also interested in the photoflipping technique for when i get much better at the system. still open to suggestions!

I usually bend the book open if its brand new to a flat position, and then going through the pages, I've managed to practice and nearly master a technique of simply using the index finger over the top and sliding it through and under.

You can get rubber fingers specifically for turning pages) from an office supply store. Okay, so it might look kinda weird if you're sitting in a public place and the rubber finger is hot pink like mine are, but otoh they work like a charm.

I use a rubber finger on my index and a rubber thumb. That stops quite a few problems. Paul's method of fixing the spine solves a few more. Another thing is to go through the book in a sort of trial run, flipping the pages but not PRing them, just to get a feel for going through the pages at a PR speed to get your hands warmed up.

If pages stick I simply start flipping backwards a few pages until I recognize a familiar pattern through the blip, and go forward from there. eg. p 68, 74 (stick), I go back 72, 70, 68, 70, recognize 70's overall pattern, affirm it, 72, affirm, 74, affirm, etc. That way I'm into the text instead of worrying over techniques.

Why not PR at the same time? And, of course, relax and have fun.

I don't think that the Photoreading book mentions any techniques for flipping pages. It is only mentioned in the Photoreading personal course. So probably it's OK to use whatever technique is comfortable to you.

im going to work on relaxing more, getting a book stand, and maybe a rubber finger. the first time i had a problem i wrapped some semi-sticky tape around my finger backwards but it stuck too much i think. thanks for all ur help.

I think the key about all of the steps from the system, whether it be prepare, or even the PR step, is finding a good method that works for you, and that' you're comfortable with.
