Forums IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ PhotoReading, Memory Optimizer photoreading book

Hi there. I've purchased a the PR book a few months ago, read through it, but never really got into it. I was wondering if I was really missing much from the audio tapes, I didn't purchase the entire kit 'cause it was a little pricey for me. Also, I'll be trying to learn the program for a second time from the book, so that I may study my first year textbooks for september. That way I'll have a supreme grasp on all concepts for my upcoming second year and fly through it. I'll be specifically reading 2 textbooks which cover two courses. Any tips on learning them for september? It's a calculus textbook, and an electronic engineering textbook if that makes a difference.

If you want to start applying the PhotoReading skills on your textbooks in September get cracking in learning to Photoread now. Best is if you have photoread and activated a couple of other books before you hit the textbooks. Once you understand how to photoread it becomes easier to apply to textbooks.

There's a lot of information on the forum that can help you learn the process from the book. Tapes are useful for discipline and repeating sections as well as learning to get into the accelerated learning state faster. On the whole the book provides all you need to know to learn to photoread.

Great idea Clark, but AlexK is right. Learn the system, on some non-pressure material. You'll actually get to your goal faster (as he echo the words of the forum).

Use August or even the last half of August for refresher. Do about 3 chapters from each text a day. When you get to the end of the book, do it again. Well that's the layering idea of PR.

Now, here's some advice to a older persson. You are dead on, with the idea of completely mastering the material in the early years. However, I will add to your plan. DO problems. This will help immensely. As for calculus. Try adding a book of tables to your PR list. List of derivatives and integrals.

The other thing I would do, even if you never feel comfortable with activation and you will if you stick to it, is to PR the chapters before they are covered in the class. Then let the lectures be your activators. I'll tell you the this as a FACT, for myself and anyone you has done it, if you read the material before class you will learn it much much much better than if you read it after the lecture. It's the same amount of time, but the effect is incredibly different.

Actually, I do have 2 other questions regarding parge turning. With page turning, since i'm still new at this, should I be turning pages slower? OR should I be flipping pages approx. 1pg/s

Also, when turning pages, I feel that I'm using my conscious mind too much to page turn. Is there any way of flipping a page without really thinking about it? Or am i doing no harm by having to think about the action.

For page turning .. as fast as you feel comfortable.

If you feel you conscious mind is comming in too much go back to using the chant... 4 3 2 1 etc. It helps keep the page turning to a comfortable pace.
