I've heard mixed things about how you can read/not read in your dreams. The truth, is that you obviously can. One weird thing is that the entire 'placebo' effect may come into place. If you believe you can't read, and you think that's the truth, it likely will be within your own mind.
Throughout my mental adventures so far in my life, I've seen many things. I've also been studying a few areas of psychology over the past month or two. Think about it this way.
If your right brain can NOT determine numbers, and letters, then this must mean your left brain does everything. But if your left brain, or perhaps what some are saying to be the "concious" can be the only part that can read, how can you remember letters, numbers, mathematical formulas, etc. that are stored into your long term memory?
Your long term memory is within your subconscious. The reason the subconcious is called the name it is, is because that's WHAT it is. A sub division of the conscious, you could say. The two work together to achieve what the human can do.
The conscious can concentrate on seven pieces of information at a time. The subconscious 20,000 pieces at a time! Sure, there's the question of why the subconscious can remember these things.
Then again, why wouldn't it? If it can remember everything that you do, see, hear, touch, or whatever - why wouldn't it be able to determine letters/numbers? If your concious is able to read, and do mathematical functions, but your subconscious cannot, then how does this make sense?
The right brain stores the information and gives it to your conscious when possible. . .so if the conscious was the thing that was only able to read and do math, then wouldn't the function of the brain be backward, thus rendering it incorrect?
Just my two cents, on what I feel may just be common sense.
