I was just wondering if PRing can actually increase your comprehension of novels. I have some trouble with this and it still takes me a really long time to read the books. I mean could you be able to tell what character said a certain quote if a teacher gave you that question? I also have trouble analyzing the themes of novels. With PR, is it possible to understand this stuff? Thanks a lot, guys.

Oh man I hate those who-said-it questions. Photoreading might only help a little with those really specific questions, but it will certainly improve your overall comprehension. PR lets you see the whole picture, making themes and symbols a breeze.

Well if I hear you correctly, PR will not NOT help you with those really specific q's, right? I now have another question... If you use it for textbooks (like a biology textbook), can you learn all of the info thoroughly? Thanks again. :-)

If you do the rapid reading step for novels then you'll be at least as good, and most likely better, at the specific questions. For textbooks you'll be light years ahead of your classmates if you spend 5 to 15 minutes with the chapter before a lecture. That's for technical stuff like bio and physics. History textbooks are awful--you have to photoread, superread and dip, and THEN you have to rapid read. In the end, however, that's still about half the time investment than normal reading.

If it takes you 2 hours to learn a chapter in biology, using the PhRing Whole Mind System, you will lessen your study time by a third in the beginning. But, it's a SYSTEM which means steps as opposed to step.

If you practice the full system and get it down, then you'll see the time factor for studying going down. For students, it sure helps to also have memorization techniques in your school career toolbox. Peg systems, links, associations, acronymns, creative sentences, Memory Optimizer, Buzan books in your personal toolbox.

So what i'm getting at is that you are not going to learn the PhRing technique and skip studying; rather you'll lessen the amount of time you need to gather your facts.

Then, using MindMapping and memory techniques, you'll get the material down.

im a newbie at photoreading, i havent even activated any books yet, but in my last few weeks of biology, i decided to use rapid reading and the tangerine technique, followed by the memory supercharger before bed, with my biology test the next day. about 5% of my class usually got A's on the test, because the tests were pretty hard. the next day i took the test and i got only 2 questions wrong out of almost 100. i got the highest score out of any class. that was my application of the whole mind system to biology, so if you practise the different steps you could probably do even better than i did.

Just doing the fringe stuff from the PhRing system is worth it's weight in gold.

I'm am absolutely positive that those few techniques made the difference in your test score. Hey, it doesn't get much better than that.

Add a glass of water some cross crawling w/ a touch of stating & or writing clear goals or affirmations: I really enjoy the high of a super score in biology....

Hi MogyBear--
Yes, you can learn everything from the book--IF you are self discplined and willing to take two-three months to learn by trial and error. The course on the other hand, talks you through the system, and it just takes any where from a couple of days to a few weeks to learn depending on the person. So, yeah, the course is worth it. If you can not afford the program, ask LSC for the payment plan.

The course holds your hand while learning the system. Either way you need to apply what you learn. With the tapes you have the steps and exercises that help you to break through some of those barriers. Some of us can read and reread a book and still miss an important exercise or idea that we need to apply in order to make it work for us. The tapes are layed out so that we are doing the necessary steps in order and helping us to see what should be happening as we proceed.
