Erm, i have a question for all geniuses or none geniuses alike. How does iq ever have anything to do with genius ? I mean, ive been taking iq tests on the net for some time now, and my scores always differ quite greatly at some tests. So, i dont see why Iq tests can be considered as bench markers for "unintelligence" or "intelligence"! I live in a place where the iq tests post you to go to which school and all that, so its pretty dogmatic.

IQ test are pretty useless on the whole like you found out it varies according to the type of test you take. You're better of grabbing some of the old IQ tests that they used in the past and practice on them to get the score you desire for posting to the school you want. They aren't really any different from any other test that are covered in school so for some degree your score can be improve by practicing on simalar test. Its a case of knowing what type of questions you need to answer and then having experience in answering them.

Those intenet test arent the best made, they are lacking several factors needed to be a real IQ test.

I posted my view on photographic memory a couple of posts back However if you want to develop a great memory you've already been given a number of good tips on it http://www.learningstrategies.com/forum/ubb/Forum8/HTML/002210.html

Your IQ level basically determines how well you can take an IQ test. Sure some people like to take the highest number they got, round up a few times, and show it off to everybody in a smug manner.

In my opinion, genius comes from how well you learn and apply what you've learned. Keeping an open mind is an important factor for turning the world into your learning playground.

Hey AlexK, i read your message on that post with that Dana person on it on photo-graphic memory, what you say reminds me of real people who actually did have problems like those. There was a man who had this profound brain-damaging disease or disorder. After the ordeal, he was able to memorize everything, literally. But one draw back though, his mind couldnt piece the memories together. Example, he say a dog on 10:00 , after that he said he say another dog on 10:01, his mind couldnt reconcile the fact that the 2 dogs were the same and he took them to be 2 different dogs! LoL.. any ways, its interesting that stories like these happen out of accidents relating to the brain and in most rare cases, people who have brain damage actually have these geniuse abilites. This is why i believe everyone has them but just dont know how to release it. I would love to have a photo-graphic memory that i could control so that i wouldnt have problems like that man did. So having a photo-graphic memory that you could "switch on" would definitely be a great feat. Btw, i read the story of this guy on "Introducing Mind & Brain" correct me if i was wrong! But if anyone has any refers to books that could help me "grow" or realise this ability, please feel free to post here. Thanks

I agree that we all have photographic memories and it would be great if we could just call up the visual memory of something when we need it. It seems to me one thing that makes memory more photographic is that amount of emotion attached to it. That's why we remember things that we worked on better.

I also think wouldn't it be great to just recall whatever I read photgraphicly but then I wonder would I think about what I read or would I put it of till later, most likely the later? Wouldn't a photographic memory be like a parrot repeating the words that it hears without understanding the meaning? When I think about what I've read then the original text is not as important anymore. The thoughts and ideas I've had about it would have changed it. I notice that I readily remember information from a book that is important to me and the rest seems to be redundant. When you consider that 11-20% of a book is the important stuff... Why would you want to remember the rest?
