im a seventh-day adventist and my religion was called a cult even on the radio, broadcast across central florida. everyone who is different from the main population, but still in an organized "religion" could be called a cult. its kind of like being an outcast of the other religions, not recognized as "one of them".
The brain has many states of conciousness, you go through them in sleep, and some of them are succeptible to outside stimulus without going past your concious brain. we do bypass the concious by photoreading, but the things we read do not control us or influence us without our permission, and we are not too deep to voluntarily come out of the relaxed state.
like they said, you shift states of the mind throughout the day, it is how the brain was created by God himself. He made it this way, so why not use it like He meant it to be used?
