Whenever language is used it changes the state of the listener and the speaker. That is hypnosis, simply a change of state.

Now who's to say what is a cult? At one time, any religion could be compared to a cult. It is simply a difference of opinion on who thinks what religion is a cult.

Considering that the mind moves in and out of various brain wave patterns throughout you day and night. Even the poorest non meditator is in alpha for about 5 seconds every minute. All hypnosis is, is a sustained deeper levels so that you can input the data 'you' want. Considering that you have a 5 second window every minute where imput data is easiest... the TV, radio and internet becomes a very hypnotic devices. Flash and multi media to entertain you (or entrain you?). If you don't understand what hynosis is then I think it is important to do some research on it because all hypnosis is self hypnosis. Alex

Yes alex- that is true. All hypnosis IS self-inflicted. You cannot be hypnotized against your will. It is exactly like trying to prove Photoreading a hoax. If you approach it with that state of mind, "This won't work," Then it won't work!

I did keep an open-mind into reading into it before I posted that post. I believe it could work. But if it's hypnosis, that draws me away. Also, what's this I hear about colors and head vibrations? Is that safe? Has anyone sustained any damage or any known system? I have a history of brain surgeries, so even if I could do it, would it be safe?

You'll be fine. Photoreading is simply using your brain the way it was meant to be used anyway.

Think of Photo Reading like a funnel. When you read “normal”, it is like having the funnel upside down, thus it not working as it should. However, when you Photo Read, it is like using the funnel properly. Regards, Rev. J. King

im a seventh-day adventist and my religion was called a cult even on the radio, broadcast across central florida. everyone who is different from the main population, but still in an organized "religion" could be called a cult. its kind of like being an outcast of the other religions, not recognized as "one of them". The brain has many states of conciousness, you go through them in sleep, and some of them are succeptible to outside stimulus without going past your concious brain. we do bypass the concious by photoreading, but the things we read do not control us or influence us without our permission, and we are not too deep to voluntarily come out of the relaxed state. like they said, you shift states of the mind throughout the day, it is how the brain was created by God himself. He made it this way, so why not use it like He meant it to be used?

Photoreading is no more hypnotic than any other reading method. You choose the books and you decide how comfortable you are going to get with the book.. It's the same as a class lecture. The lecturer might notice that the class is having difficulty understanding the lessons. So s/he says 'ok folks lets take a break. Stand up take just stretch a bit. Take a deep breath and slowly let it out'... Then you sit down again and the lecture continues. You might have even laughed with the neighouring students at some joke while you were standing. Were you hypnotised? No! All you did was let go of some tension. You've probably stretched, taken deep breaths to relax yourself on your own. Just because it works. That's all there is to it with photoreading. Giving yourself permission to be relax while you learn. The rest is up to you. Alex [This message has been edited by AlexK (edited August 15, 2002).]
