Hey.. I was just wondering... when I try to photoread (in the photofocus state), I can clearly see words in the blip page, and I read them. So when I turn the page, I see "and", "walked", you know, any random word that is in the middle of the page. These words are obviously going through my conscious mind... so is that ok? Thanks!

I think it's probably okay...use your instincts.

If you see the word and they cause you to think "Am I doing it right?" "Is this ok," and stuff like that while you are photoreading then you are not really in photofocus state, you're analysing. Turn the book upside down and photoread that way to get your analyitcal mind out of the way. (yes it works well that way too)

We can see words in the blip page but ignore them since we're not trying to recognise the text consciously at this stage.

So when I do it upside-down, do I want to read it from front to back or does it not matter?

Turn the pages in the normal manner. So you be Photoreading from back to front. If you're comfortable flipping the other way then go for it have fun with it. Often times we photoread the book both ways, upside down and right side up . Flipping pages from right to left and that is only because that is what we habitually do. If you can flip pages from left to right then enjoy.

I think the main issue is that youre overloading the 126 bits of info. anyway & everything over that spills into your unconscious. Also whenever you unfocus your eyes Alpha is enevitable.

Dragha- would you like to clarify what you said? I don't think you worded it right...

Sorry for the ambiguities. What I meant to say was that by reading fast you are probably exceeding the 126 bits of information that the conscious mind can accomodate allowing much of the information to be absorbed by the subconscious. Also for those who are concerned with reaching the photofocus state. Its as easy as defocusing the eyes(automatic alpha). The only way you can do it wrong is to be concerned with whether you're doing it right. I have meditated for over 25 years so I was very familiar with the alpha-theta state. Reading upside down allows you to bypass the clumsy,uptight,analysis paralysis generating left brain. Hope I've unmuddled my words(left brain, again) somewhat.
