For novels you may find that that is the way to go... If you want to use the 30 minute activation sessions I suggest you have yourself some well formed questions suitable for novels.
To answer questions for activation in 30 minute activation session, assuming you just want to get the book read and know what you need to know, it pays to be focused on what you need to know from the book. Otherwise the method of photoreading then rapid reading is one normally used for novels.
I had written some guidelines for asking questions for activation that are useful for novels (if you want to avoid rapid reading and just activate the book using SR and Dip) and included some info for forming questions for non-fiction.
