I just don't see much of an advantage to PhotoReading if you just rapid read it in the end anyways, so that activation guideline you described must be the way to go.

It really depends on your reading requirements. Novels are generally read for recreation so a photoread and rapid read is often the way to go.

For the purpose of study there are some things to look for in the novel which makes it feasable to apply the activation steps even partially before a rapid read. It's still possible to get everything from a novel without a rapid read.It all boils down to individual preferences.

I'ts like flying to an area and watching the terrain and then driving there later, you find that you noticed a lot more than you consciously realized. I just PR'd a computer manual and then read it upside down. After that I read 80 pages the regular way. I felt a connection with the material that was very satisfying. All this in two hours, having faith in the process makes all the difference. Be adventurous, flexible and curious.This is the new frontier.
