I'm in the middle of some summer reading for my school, and i was wondering if i could gain comprehension by PRing the book also. Because i am not going to be able to PR/comprehend books within the time i need this book finished, i figure that if i PR it and then read it normally that the reading it normally can act as a type of activation. Anyway, i'm just looking for opinions, thanks.

Yes, you can certainly do that.

Whatever book you are reading, just write, yes, write down what you want to know from that book.

Then put 1 question in you other than conscious mind and open the book and just stop somewhere. The answer should be VERY close by. If not, relax & try again.

Asking questions and writing down the answers will greatly help w/ comprehension.

It's like jumping off a cliff, but your other than conscious mind is an ever-present parachute USE IT often & you'll be SO AMAZED

Also, trigger words can include anything right? Like places, characters, words that are written in another language, and stuff like that. Thanks again!

Yes, like that. Your mind's eye snatches a word that appears to be significant to your need or interest. Could also be words in bolds or italics that catch your mind's eye.

You are looking for that 20% of the book that carries 80% of the meaning. If you have a 200 page book, then you are dealing w/ only 40 pages. Telling yourself that will help your mind find the significant words and text.

good luck

I did the photoreading system on a book for school last year then just read through it normaly. I was skipping over all the stuff I already knew and it took much less time to get through it

BTW, I was wondering how i would go about previewing a science-fiction novel. It may be on the later tapes, but without bolded headings/sub-headings, i'm wondering how u would prepare it other than reading the first/last page. Thanx!

A discussion about photoreading Novels has a recent thread here. http://www.learningstrategies.com/forum/ubb/Forum8/HTML/002407.html

You'll probably find some of your questions already answered.
