I got two quick questions about this. 1: you're saposed to be very relaxed, and very alert...Being 15, i don't have many problems relaxing and i enjoy going through tape-guided relaxation excercizes before beggining to PR. However, i don't feel "alert," though i sapose if i am in the accelerative learning state than my other than concious mind is alert, right? Also, i read that you should be relaxed though not drifting off. When i go through the guided relaxation excercizes i don't begin to drift off, however i feel rather sleepy. Is this ok?

Also, i have encountered a few problems with activating my first book. The first book i officially PRed was Paul Scheele's book that he guides you through on the fourth tape. I am having problems because i already know all the basics about the PRing whole mind system and therefore am having trouble making good questions that i am genuinly interested in. Furthermore, when i end up thinking of a good question to answer, i end up simply looking in the table of contents, then finding the bold heading, and simply reading the first paragraph or so under that heading without having to do much, if any superreading/dipping. Last but not least, when I super-read, i'm not really comprehending much. I see a word here or there, but i rarley get the main topic of the section unless i read the heading and don't have strong feelings of when to dip. Tonight, i am going to go through the same relaxation excercize, and then PR the book upside down/backwards and wait till tomorrow to try again. Ok, that's all, thanks again.

While in the relaxed state just tell yourself that you'll remain relaxed and mentally allert. Getting sleepy means you're entering very deep levels of relaxation so the reminder that I will remain alert and focused doesn't go astray.

Since you're already familar with the book... just keep going with the tapes. You're doing the steps and the first time round you filled with doubts. It's more interesting to see how you go on a book new to you.

The irony is your getting it. so rather than stalling and doing over... keep going with the tapes. Just continue with the tapes and then if you still got doubts start the tapes over... answers often become clearer once you've worked your way through.

Thanx for your advice Alex. But i was just wondering one more thing: if i'm PRing a book for the purpose of being able to write an essay on it after, comparing it with another book (i don't have any idea of what type of essay question i will recieve), then while activating do you think i would have more luck super reading/ dipping for specific questions? rather than to fulfil my purpose of being able to write an essay? Basically, if the overall purpose is too vague, should you concentrate on individual, specific questions?

Yes, I do think you would have more luck SRing and dipping for specific questions. For an essay you will want to show that you have some sort of understanding or made an assessment of the topic. The purpose of being able to answer the unknown (at this time) essay questions is still the purpose. However in order to fulfil this purpose you'll want an understanding of the text at another level.

In other words keep your orginal purpose and add specific questions that helps you consciously expand the information in the text to help you meet that purpose.

Qwerty,
PhR a few books to get a feel for the technique.

Then get a short book on a subject that interests you. Make it a short book that intrigues you personally & then PhR it & activate it. It really helps to activate books that interest you.

The Natural Brilliance book and the Hunt book if that's still in the course, are not activating material for a 15 yr old.

Once you have activated an easy book that interests you, you get to see how the system works & it's a lot of fun to see that. Then you move to more challenging material later after you know your style.

good luck & keep asking questions
you have a GREAT & attitude
