What are OBE's?

OBE = put of body experience. I'm not too crazy about them. You feel like your falling but you look back and you lying in bed sound asleep.

It is distinctly different to lucid dreams. You seem to be even more lucid... and you know when your no longer traveling you suddenly find yourself back in yout body... you know the session has ended. Whereas with lucid dreams you can just lose lucidity in the dream state and continue dreaming.

I must say that after reading that topic that you just posted Zeus, I'm still trying to imagine the true possibilities. I do not believe that the astral stuff is correct. How can we even say that it would be within another demension?

And Ramon - I'm sorry I didn't know about Scientology back when you posted that, because I later found out about it, and must say:it's like a pure cult. They talk about "eliminating the responsive brain" and being able to power on through without "the bad feelings of outside events."

It's like brainwashing or something...

I think www.scientology.com would be it. Take a look at some of the books, and descriptions...it's nutty. Many celebrities use it, including Isaac Hayes, John Travolta, and Tom Cruise. It's funny, because you can actually see the way it works within their work.

Anyways...I'm sorry to hear about your uncle. Some people have just drifted and are too far gone...

Well, Youngprer, as I mentioned in that post:
It's an EXTREMELY fascinating subject, but only for those with an open mind.

The number of REALLY open minded persons are few. They're not skeptical and say "this can't be true because it sounds too unbelievable" "it doesn't fit my belief system and therefore it's not true". No, what they do is research the subject and try it themselves and form their own opinion based on their own empirical evidence.

Regarding the use of the word "dimension" - you could also call it an energy system with higher vibrations than the physical plane.

Your consciousness is outside of your physical body during an astral projection/OBE (well, it's more complicated than that, but it's basically what happens). The astral plane (and above; there are even higher planes)is a non-physical realm/dimension/plane (whatever you want to call it).

Lucid dreams and OBEs are closely related. From a LD state you can quite easily induce an OBE

I had tried having OOBEs years ago. Was pretty successful then but not keen on the sensations associated with it. So I dropped it. Now they been happening accidently. Lucid dreams that didn't go as planned. It's funny lucid dreams end when you fall back into the dream or wake up but with an OOBE you know when you've finished. The information you gather can be quite fascinating. However I haven't bothered travelling to other dimensions... been within the current one each time.

Orginally it starts with a rocking sensation like you're pulling yourself away from some binding or a straight jacket. Pretty heavy feeling. I literally felt like I was going to fall off the bed in the process. I wasn't sure if I was leaving my body behind. Once free I seem to move rapidly. Getting back was a lot simpler. Blink of an eye along with the thought of returning and I'm back

Last couple of times were somewhat different. Since I used the Nova dreamer. Once I woke up and thought hey I'm lucid dreaming and then realised that that it woke me. But noticed that my body was sound asleep so I figured alright now I'll have a lucid dream what will I dream about?

Now this gets weird. I start pulling out of my body. I wind up saying in my mind... hey whoa I said lucid dream Not OBE.. This is the odd part, I never heard of it happening before, but I felt like I was half in and half out of my body. The part of me that was partly outside my body waited... then I said OK OBE then and I was off. Nothing like the rocking sensation I had before. I don't look for OOBEs since I tried learning it 8 years ago. Thought it was too much to bother with so let it go. Even though I was successful without much effort and within 2 weeks of reading the book on the subject. There was too much going on in my life at the time that Astral traveling was just an interest.

I must say though they are easier to achieve alongside lucid dreams. I've had it happen toward the end of a lucid dream too. I'll see if I can track down which book it was that first helped me experience OBE's.
